JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Sofyan Djalil has been sworn in as new Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas) replacing Andrinof Chaniago.

Sofyan took his oath this afternoon (Aug. 12) in front of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the State Palace, Jakarta.

Previously, Sofyan served as Coordinating Minister for Economy in Jokowi-Kalla’s Working Cabinet before replaced by Darmin Nasution. 

Sofyan was born in Aceh, on Sep. 23, 1953. He is known for his close relationship with Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

He was Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE’s) under the administration of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Jusuf Kalla from 2007 to 2009. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
