JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Sofyan Basir, previously serving as president director of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI), was on Tuesday (Dec 23) appointed as new president director for state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) for 2014-2019 period, replacing Nur Parmudji.
Nur has tendered his resignation since Dahlan Iskan led the state-owned enterprises (SoE) ministry. But Dahlan asked Nur to hold the position until the new government was established. Nur’s tenure of office also ended on May 2014.
Rini Soemarno, minister of SoE, said Sofyan was appointed through the selection and he has good track record, mainly to have created BBRI as the biggest bank with system and network set up accross the country.
Under Sofyan’s leadership for past 10 years, BBRI maintains its position as the largest bank among the state owned banks, in term of profit. BBRI booked net profit of Rp18.22 trillion in the first nine months of 2014, grew by 19% from Rp15.23 trillion in the corresponding period of 2013.
Rini Soemarno also appointed Chandra Hamzah as president commissioner for PLN. Chandra is former deputy chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Other commissioners are Hasan Bisri (former leader of the Supreme Audit Agency/BPK) and Budiman (retired general, former Army Chief of Staff).
While member of director board are Sarwono Sudarto, Nicke Widyawati, Murtaqi Syamsuddin, Supangkat Iwan Santoso, Amin Subekti, Nasri Sebayang, and Amir Rosidin.
