SINGAPORE (Yosefardi) – Singapore Airlines’ systemwide passenger carriage (measured in revenue passenger kilometers) rose 1.1% in October 2013 on the back of 0.2% growth in capacity (measured in available seat kilometers).
Consequently, passenger load factor (PLF) grew by 0.7 of a percentage point to 78.5%. The number of passengers carried increased by 3.1%.
SilkAir’s systemwide passenger carriage increased 1.1% year-on-year against 12.7% growth in capacity. As a result, PLF was 7.6 percentage points lower at 66.7%. Passenger carriage lagged behind capacity growth for both route regions, resulting in declines in PLF.
Overall cargo traffic (measured in freight-tonne-kilometres) was 3.5% lower year-on-year, while cargo capacity decreased by 3.0%. Consequently, cargo load factor decreased by 0.3 of a percentage point. Load factors were higher for all route regions, except for East Asia and South West Pacific where the increase in cargo traffic was outpaced by the increase in cargo capacity.
