HONG KONG (Yosefardi) – China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd, one of the world’s largest coal producers, posted net profit of RMB24.87 billion (around US$4.06 billion) in the first half of 2013, down 7% from the corresponding period of 2012.
Shenhua, which also operates in South Sumatra, Indonesia, generated sales revenue of RMB127.23 billion (US$20.8 billion), an increase of 4.7% from the same period of 2012.
In the first half of 2013, Shenhua produced 158.3 million tons of commercial coal, grew 1.6% from the first half of 2012, while coal sales increased by 9.3% to 242.7 million tons.
Total power output dispatch, meanwhile, grew only 2.8% to 98.31 billion kWh from installed capacity of power generators at 41,798 MW.
On JUne 30, 2013, China Shenhua’s market capitalization reached US$53.9 billion to make it among major global listed coal companies.
