JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Kwee Cahyadi Kumala aka Swie Teng, the owner of PT Sentul City (BKSL) Tbk and president commissioner of PT Bukit Jonggol Asri (BJA), has been sentenced to five years in jail in the forest area conversion bribery scandal in Bogor, West Java.

In addition, panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court ordered the defendant to pay Rp300 million in fine or serving three months additional imprisonment.

The verdict, however, is lighter than the demand from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The KPK earlier demanded 6.5 years in prison to Cahyadi Kumala and Rp500 million in fine.

Previously, the Jakarta Corruption Court has already sentenced Bogor Regent and PPP politician Rachmat Yasin to 5.5 years in prison for proven guilty in the same case.

While another suspect in the case, BJA’s Director Francis Xaverius Yohan Yap, got 1.5 years in prison. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
