JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The failure of the meeting between President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and former president Megawati Soekarnoputri has distrupted the possible alliance between Democratic Party and the Indonesian Democratic Party for Struggle (PDI-P).

As reported earlier, rumor was swirling around about the possible alliance between Democratic Party and PDI-P ahead of the election of the new leadership of the 2014-2019 House of Representatives (DPR).

The rumor was triggered by President SBY’s plan to issue the government regulation in lieu of law (Perpu) to replace the newly Regional Election Law in order to cancel the implementation of the election of regional leaders by the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) at regency/municipality
and provincial level.

Commenting to failure of the meeting, PDI-P politician Pramono Anung stated that Megawati actually wants to meet SBY. According to Pramono, Mega has mandated Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Jusuf Kalla, Surya Paloh, and Puan Maharani to pursue SBY. Pramono, however, does not know the reasons of the failure for the meeting between 2 figures.

Democratic Party politician Ruhut Sitompul said that SBY prefers to meet Megawati face to face, instead of talking to Megawati’s middle-men.(haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
