JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The rupiah weakened further by 0.2% to Rp11,437 agains the US Dollar Monday (April 14), falling 1.3% since April 8, 2014, a day before the election to vote legislative members.
The rupiah might weaken further this week while investors are still awaiting the running mates of president candidates.
The currencies market responded negatively the election result on April 9, 2014 as it missed the epectation.
Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia’s senior deputy governor, Mirza Adityaswara, said the rupiah’s weakening after election is due to technical factor as the players opted to make such a short term gain.
He revealed that Bank Indonesia’s main concern is the fundamental of the economy which is now on positive trend.
Mirza expects the trade balance will continue improve after recorded a surplus in February this year. The inflation will be also in control.
