JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – State-owned PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (RNI) targets to acquire one breeding firm in Australia by end of this year, as part of expansion program for cow breeding business.

Ismed Hasan Putro, RNI’s president director, said the company is now seeking to acquire a breeding firm in Australia with land of 3,000 – 10,000 hectares.

He said RNI will approch Bank Rakyat Indonesia and Bank Negara Indonesia to provide financial support the expansion program for breeding business.

Beside RNI, the government of Indonesia has also assigned state fertilizer company PT Pupuk Indonesia to expand breeding business in Australia with land acquisition target of 1 million hectares.

In past one year, beef price in Indonesia had increased to Rp90,000 – Rp100,000 per kilogram, even reached Rp130,000 during Ramadhan month and Lebaran day. (yohanneso@yosefardi.biz)
