JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Graft suspect and non-active Riau Governor Annas Maamun revealed on Tuesday (Nov. 18) that he had a plan to meet Zulkifli Hasan, serving as Minister of Forestry, to discuss about the permit of forest area conversion in Riau, Kompas.com reported.

“Yes, I’ve (planned) to meet (Zulkifli Hasan), but I’ve been already arrested (by the Anti-Graft Commission KPK),” Annas said.

Annas, however, denied that he wanted to give a fee to Zulkifli in order to accelerate the process to get Zulkifli’s permit over forest area conversion in Riau.

As reported earlier, KPK has caught red-handed Annas Maamun along with a businessman Gulat Medali Emas Manurung in a bribery transaction in Cibubur, East Jakarta. KPK has seized Rp500 million and Sin$156,000 cash money from the transaction. Both Annas and Gulat have been named as suspects in the
case.

KPK, in its further investigation, then continues examining Zulkifli Hasan as witness in the case. The Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN) has been questioned for third times related to Annas Mamun’s bribery scandal. The politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN) was also questioned for another forest area conversion bribery scandal implicating PT Bukit Jonggol Asri (BJA).

Today, KPK questioned Romahurmuziy, a lawmaker from the United Development Party (PPP), as witness for Gulat Manurung. Romahurmuziy is now serving as PPP Chairman of Surabaya Congress version. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
