JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Taking place on Friday (Dec. 26) at the Siron mass grave in Blang Padang, Banda Aceh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, Vice President Jusuf Kalla led tributes to the dead of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

Kalla, in his speech, thanked local volunteers and the outside world for helping Aceh to have recovered from the tragedy a decade ago. Kalla shed his tears when watching the video of the tsunami disaster.

The province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam was the worst hit area of the 2004 tsunami.

More than 200,000 people died when an underwater 9.3-magnitude earthquake set off massive waves on Dec. 26, 2004.(haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
