SURABAYA (Yosefardi) – The pair of mayor and vice mayor candidates Rasiyo and Lucy Kurniasari has passed the verification process conducted by local election commission in Surabaya, East Java.
Rasiyo-Lucy will run in the city election this year, to challenge the incumbent candidate Mayor Tri Rismaharini and her running mate Wishnu Sakti Buana.
The KPUD Surabaya announced Rasiyo-Lucy as the only contender for the incumbent pair on Thursday (Sep. 24).
Rasiyo-Lucy pair is supported by a coalition of Democratic Party, led by former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), and PAN, led by Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan. The pair will challenge Risma and Wishnu that endorsed by the ruling party PDI-P.
Rasiyo is known as former regional secretary of East Java provincial administration. Lucy, meanwhile, is known as businesswoman cum politician. She was Democratic Party lawmaker at the 2009-2014 House of Representatives (DPR). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
