JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Investors opted to lock in profit in banking stocks after recent gains, dragging down the composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) by 0.87% to 4456 this morning.
Bank Mandiri lost 1.69%, Bank Rakyat Indonesia declined 0.57%, Bank Central Asia fell 0.74%, and Bank Negara Indonesia down 0.12%.
Blue chip stocks were also in red. Astra International fell 1.1%, Bumi Serpong Damai shed 1%, BW Plantation declined 1.15%, Jababeka lost 1.4%, Lippo Karawaci dropped 1%, and Telkom down 0.9%.
Other losers were Waskita Karya (-2.73%), Wijaya Karya (1.3%), Pakuwon Jati (-2.19%), Hanson International (-1.65%), Visi Media (-1.07%), and Bumi Resources Minerals (-1.71%).
Nymex’s crude oil inched up 0.01% to US$97.33 per barrel in Asian trading this morning. Gold fell 0.18% to US$1,260 per ounce.
