JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Political pressures continue flowing to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as it is urged to name all former members of the Board of the Governors of Bank Indonesia (BI) involved in the decision to bail out Bank Century back in 2008, including Vice President Boediono, as suspects in the case.
Bambang Soesatyo, one member of the House of Representatives (DPR) Supervisory Team on Bank Century bailout scandal, said the indictment read by the KPK’s prosecutor team in the Tuesday’s trial has clearly revealed the role of Boediono and his colleagues as former members of the Board of the Governors of Bank Indonesia in Bank Century bailout scandal.
The Golkar Party lawmaker stated that the KPK is supposedly named Boediono Cs as new suspects.
As reported earlier, in the trial on Tuesday (Jun 17), the KPK’s prosecutor team has demanded 17 years jail term for Budi Mulya, former BI Deputy Governor and one of suspect in the case.
KPK’s prosecutor team also demanded Budi to pay Rp800 million in fine or serve eight additional months in prison and also to repay Rp1 billionto the state.
According to the KPK’s prosecutor team, Budi along with other former members of the Board of the Governors of Bank Indonesia are accused to approve the disbursement of the short-term assistance (FPJP) facility or bailout funds from Bank Indonesia to Bank Century though the bank didn’t meet the requirement to receive the facility.
Also, other former members of the Board of the Governors of Bank Indonesia were mentioned by the KPK’s prosecutor team are Boediono (former BI Governor), Miranda Swaray Goeltom (former BI Senior Deputy Governor), Siti Chalimah Fadrijah(former BI Deputy Governor), and the late Budi Rochadi (former BI Deputy Governor).
