JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Panel of judges at the Constitutional Court is expected to hold the last trial of presidential election dispute on Monday (August 18) before formulating a judgement and reading the verdict on Thursday (August 21).
The trial is scheduled to be held this morning with the agenda to legalize written evidences from the losing candidate Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa as the plaintiff, the General Election Commission (KPU) as the defendant, and the president-elect & vice president-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo-Jusuf Kalla as the affiliated party.
Commenting to Prabowo-Hatta’s chance on winning the lawsuit, Mahfud MD, former chief Justice of the Constitutional Court whose also former campaign manager of Prabowo-Hatta’s team, earlier said that he’s pessimistic that Prabowo-Hatta can win the lawsuit.
As reported earlier, panel of judges at the Constitutional Court has kicked off the first trial of the dispute on August 6, 2014.
Based on Article 201 Paragraph 3 of Presidential Election Law No. 42/2008 and Article 78 letter a of Constitutional Court Law No. 24/2003, the Court only has 14 working days in maximum to formulate a final ruling after the Court accepted the lawsuit of post-presidential election dispute.
