JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo still waits for considerations from his Advisory Council (Wantimpres) and the Independent Team of Police-KPK Friction for responding the resignation letter tendered by the Deputy Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bambang Widjojanto.

Took place at the State Palace at around 9:00 am, President Jokowi is scheduled to hold a meeting with nine members of the Presidential Advisory Council to discuss, among others, Bambang’s resignation letter.

Jokowi has earlier met with the Independent Team established to resolve the recent friction between the National Police and the KPK.

The friction between police and the KPK was heating up after the nomination of Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan as new Police Chief neglecting KPK’s decision that named him as graft suspect.

The police later named Bambang Widjojanto as suspect in the case related to post-election dispute of Kotawaringin Barat regency back in 2010. The police also received reports against three other KPK leaders i.e. Abraham Samad, Adnan Pandu Praja, and Zulkarnain.

Previously Bambang Widjojanto has tendered his resignation to the KPK leaders as well as the President following the National Police’s decision to name him as suspect.

Should KPK leaders accept Bambang’s resignation letter, then Bambang will become temporarily non-active from KPK. But KPK leaders have rejected Bambang’s resignation. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
