JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is on board of the Air Force’s Super Puma helicopter to monitor the areas of the forest fires in Meranti regency, Riau, Detik.com reported on Thursday (Nov. 27).
Also joining on board are the First Lady Iriana Jokowi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Forestry & Environment Siti Nurbaya Bakar, and Acting Governor of Riau Arsyad Juliandi Rachman.
The helicopter reportedly has flown to the location from Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport in Pekanbaru, Riau, at around 7:10 AM. President initially wants to visit the areas of the forest fires yesterday but failed due to bad weather.
Prsident reportedly wants to find out the problem causing the forest fires, so therefore he could find the right solution to stop the fires.
Previously, public has urged President Jokowi to adequately address the forest fires’ problem in Sumatra and Kalimantan as the smog from the forest fires has become national and international issues. Last year’s smog was reportedly the worst since 1997-1998. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
