JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is urged to involving the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports & Analysis Center (PPATK) into the selection for new Attorney General, pretty much like the President did when selecting ministerial candidates.

Coordinator of the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) Emerson Yuntho also suggests the President to involving the National Commission for Human Rights (Komnas HAM) in the selection process.

Emerson told Tempo that the involvement of KPK, PPATK, and Komnas HAM in the selection process of public position would be a good tradition. So as Emerson said he will help President Jokowi to make sure that President will appoint a candidate who is clean and has integrity and trusted.

In a different place, KPK Chief Abraham Samad stated that KPK is ready, on demand by the President, to cross check the track record and the wealth of Attorney General candidates.

President is also urged to involving KPK, PPATK, and Komnas HAM in the selection process for other strategic public positions such as Chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) and Director General of Taxation Office.

As reported earlier, five names have been mentioned as potential candidates for becoming new Attorney General to replace Basrief Arief, who has entered his mandatory retirement age. One of that five candidates is PPATK Chief M Yusuf. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
