JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) remain ignores the request of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) related to the amendment of the Criminal Code (KUHP) and the Code of Criminal Procedures (KUHAP).

KPK has demanded to president to stop the ongoing discussion and withdraw the amendment of KUHP and KUHAP bills as the amendment would weaken KPK’s authority in combating corruption.

The House of Representatives (DPR) is also in the same chorus, ignoring KPK’s demand.

“De facto, KPK’s letters have not been answered yet, except the Minister of Law & Human Rights,” said KPK Deputy Chief Bambang Widjojanto, as quoted by Kompas.com Thursday (Feb 27).

Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto claimed that KPK is also involved on the discussion of KUHP and KUHAP bills.

Earlier Djoko have suggested KPK for not to understand the amendment of criminal bills as the effort of weakening KPK’s authority in combating corruption.
