JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto has just decided to pull out from the process of presidential election conducted by the General Election Commission (KPU).

The KPU itself, as scheduled on Tuesday (July 22), will officially announce the winner of presidential election just after finishing the recapitulation of votes at nation-wide level.

In a press briefing this afternoon, Prabowo, without accompanied by his running mate Hatta Rajasa, declared that he rejected the implementation of the election which he claimed full of massive and systematic frauds.

Prabowo then said he decided to pull out from the process and ordered all of his witnesses to walk out from the recapitulation of votes conducted by the KPU.

Prabowo might face electoral violation because referring to Article 22 of Presidential Election Law No. 42/2008, presidential candidate/vice presidential candidate is not allowed to pull out from the race after officially being named as candidate by the KPU.

According to Article 245 and 246 of the same law, any presidential candidate/vice presidential or political party/coalition of political parties who pull out their candidacy can be charged with jail sentence and obliged to paying a fine. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
