JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The National Development Party (PPP) has finally annulled its coalition with Gerindra Party, earlier declared by PPP chairman Suryadharma Ali and Gerindra patron chief Prabowo Subianto, to endorse Prabowo’s candidacy in July’s presidential election.
Suryadharma Ali, who is also Minister of Religious Affairs, also apologized for his previous wild maneuver to support Prabowo beyond the decision from his party.
Suryadharma, however, said that his party decided to keep him as party chairman. He hopes PPP would finally enter into a coalition with Gerindra.
Romahurmuziy, PPP Secretary General, also confirmed Suryadharma’s statements. He said PPP has not yet entered into a coalition with any political party, including Gerindra.
PPP leaders today hold the party’s 3rd National Working Meeting at Seruni Hotel in Cisarua, West Java.
They have agreed to obey to the recent recommendations delivered by Maemoen Zubair, patron chief and Sharia Council’s chairman of PPP. One of the recommendations is to reach reconciliation between Suryadharma and Romahurmuziy’s camps in order to finish internal conflict within the party.
While another recommendation is to return to the party’s previous decision taken in the 2nd National Working Meeting held in Bandung, West Java on Februay 7-9, 2014, which basically annulls PPP support to Gerindra. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
