JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – National Police wants a wider authority of counter-terrorism action. The lawmakers and government are urged to revise Anti-terrorism Law No 15/2013.

In the hearing with Commission III of the House, Timur Pradopo, national police chief, specifically said that the law needs to be revised. Timur claimed that the current regulation do not give the authority to the law enforcement officer to initiate an action on terrorism activity.

On Sep. 16, 2013, Timur shared its opinion that the recruitment process and military training should be mentioned in the law revision. Timur also requested the lawmaker to include the intelligence data into category of court evidences.

Timur also explained that one of the obstacles to eradicate terrorism activity is the lack of people’s awareness on criminal activities. (indrab@yosefardi.biz)
