JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim Polri) is expected to examine former Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Monday (June 8) related to investigation into corruption case surrounding the supply of condensates to PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI).
Director of Economy & Special Crimes at the Bareskrim Polri Brig. Gen. Victor E. Simanjuntak told Kompas.com this morning that Sri Mulyani’s lawyer asked the Police to question their client at the Finance Ministry’s office. But Victor said that the Police wants to question Sri Mulyani at the Bareskrim’s office.
Sri Mulyani herself will be questioned as a witness in the case. Previously, the Police also revealed its plans to examine former Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
Sri served as Minister of Finance under Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s (SBY) administration from December 2005 to May 2010. Purnomo, meanwhile, served as Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources from October 2004 to October 2009.
The Police has named three suspects in this case. They are DH, RP, and HW. State losses, based on calculation from the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP), is estimated to be around US$139 million. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
