JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – State-owned electricity provider PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) suffered loss of Rp29.57 trillion in 2013, compared to profit Rp3.2 trillion in 2012.
Operating revenue increased 10.8% to Rp257.4 trillion from previous Rp232.66 trillion. Sale of electricity rose to Rp153.49 trillion (2012: Rp126.72 trillion) while the government’s electricity subsidy reached Rp101.21 trillion (2012: Rp103.33 trillion).
Operating expense grew by 8.4% to Rp220.9 trillion, of which cost of fuel and lubricants accounted for Rp147.63 trillion (2012: Rp136.53 trillion).
PLN also recorded foreign exchange (forex) loss of Rp48.09 trillion, compared to loss Rp5.94 trillion in 2012. Financial cost increased to Rp30.15 trillion from earlier Rp24.6 trillion.
PLN’s assets totaled Rp595.88 trillion while liability amounted Rp462.64 trillion.
