JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) targets to have additional power capacity of 3,620 megawatts (MW), part of first phase of 10,000 MW fast track program implemented this year.

Of total 3,620 MW, some 1,414 MW are under trial phase while the rest 2,105 are under construction. This project can not be realized as planned due to problems such as technical factors in the trial period, transmission factor, and also the capability of contractors.

Only few power plant projects were realized their constructions as planned such as PLTU Ende and PLTU Tanjung Balai, Karimun. Other PLTU contructions were facing the delays of 2-17 months.

The government had initially targeted the 10,000 MW fast track project to complete by 2010, started in 2006, but then rescheduled to complete by 2014. This project is targeted to cost Rp169 trillion.
