JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has started commercial operation of Duri power plant with installed capacity of 7×16 MW in Pinggir, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province.
Energy ministry said the power plant has started commercial operation gradually since September 2013 and now has reached 100%.
The power plant uses seven gas engines with 16 MW capacity each. PLN expects cost saving of around Rp23 billion per month from the new power plant.
Riau province’s peak demand is 475 MW, which was supplied by Koto Panjang hydropower, Teluk Lembu gas and diesel fired power plant, and some small diesel-fired power plants.
