JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – State oil and gas company PT Pertamina allocates US$2.46 billion for purchasing tankers, to transport crude oil and other products of refinery, to absorb the increase production of oil and gas in offshore.

Muhammad Irvan, Assistant Manager for Ship Building Support at Pertamina, said Pertamina targets to buy 24 new vessels until 2016 along with the growth of oil and gas consumption.

So far, Pertamina owns 56 vessels for transporting fuel and crude oil. It needs 187 vessels to distribute fuel and crude oil in the whole parts of the country.

Pertamina also rents 131 vessels from other parties.
