JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Azlaini Agus, the non-active Deputy Chief of Ombudsman Commission and politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN), has been named as suspect in an assaulting case, Kompas.com reported.

The decision from the Pekanbaru Police office to name Azlaini Agus as suspect was confirmed by Police Comr. Arief Fajar, the Pekanbaru Police Detective Chief.

The Pekanbaru Police has charged Azlaini Agus persecution article of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) for allegedly assaulting a member of ground staff of the state flag carrier Garuda Indonesia namely Yana Novia at an airport in Pekanbaru, Riau. The assaulting was happen on Oct. 28, 2013.

Previously, the Ombudsman ethics council had recommended the permanent dismissal of Azlaini Agus to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The recommendation has been submitted on Nov. 29, 2013.

Prior to serving as Deputy Chief of Ombudsman Commission, Azlaini Agus is known as politician from PAN, a political party led by Hatta Rajasa, who is now Coordinating Minister for Economy and father-in-law of President SBY’s youngest son. She served as PAN lawmaker at the House of Representatives (DPR) from 2004 to 2009. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
