JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court has on Thursday (Dec. 17) sentenced Otto Cornelis (OC) Kaligis, graft suspect and senior advocate, to 5.5. years in jail, lighter than the KPK’s demand of 10 years imprisonment.

In addition, the judges also ordered Kaligis to pay Rp300 million in fine or serving additional three months imprisonment.

According to the judges, Kaligis has been proven guilty of bribing judges and registrar at the State Administrative Court (PTUN) of Medan, North Sumatra.

Kaligis, meanwhile, disappointed with the court’s verdict. He said he will soon file an appeal to challenge the verdict.

As reported earlier, KPK’s prosecutor team also demanded panel of judges to sentence Kaligis to 10 years in jail plus ordering Kaligis to pay Rp500 million in fine or serving additional 4 months imprisonment.

KPK alleged the then chief justice of Nasdem Party’s supreme council was bribing judges and registrar at the PTUN Medan in order to tampering the High Prosecutor Office (Kejati) of North Sumatra’s investigation into graft case implicating the non-active Governor of North Sumatra Gatot Pujo Nugroho.
