JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Novel Baswedan, a senior investigator at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), has filed a pre-trial petition to the South Jakarta District Court on Monday (May. 4), in order to challenge the Police’s decision on naming him as suspect.
As reported earlier, Novel was arrested by the investigators from the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim Polri) last Friday (May. 1).
The Bareskrim, however, has released Novel since Saturday following the order of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and a guarantee given altogether by five KPK’s commissioners.
Back in 2012, Novel has been named as suspect by the Bengkulu Police office in a persecution case implicating him in 2004 when served as the chief of the Bengkulu Police’s criminal investigation division.
Novel is also known as a cousin of Anies Baswedan, Minister of Education & Culture. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
