JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – A coalition of Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) urged President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to cancel the fund allocation of Rp658 billion for political party’s witness in legislative and presidential elections as it violates the laws.

The coalition also asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to launch investigation over SBY’s administration related to this fund.

The coalition believes the allocation of State budget (APBN) for political party’s witness will violate the laws of State Finance, Political Parties, Legislative Election, and Presidential Election.

The coalition, called as KUAK (The Coalition for Accountability of State Finance), consists of Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), Indonesian Civilized Circle (Lima), Transparency International Indonesia (TII), the Society for Election and Democracy (Perludem), and Civil Society Alliance for Democracy (Yappika).

Nine political parties, including the ruling President SBY’s Democratic Party, supported SBY’s decision on this fund, while three other (PDI-P, Golkar, Nasdem) firmly rejected the plan. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
