JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – National motorcycles sales reached 613,214 units in August 2014, grew by 25% from 490,824 units in August 2013. Compared to previous month, the figure increased 14%. In July 2013, national motorcycles sales reached 534,490 units.

In August 2014, Honda sold 388,314 units, followed by Yamaha 185,129 units, Suzuki 20,143, Kawasaki 17,193 units, and TVS 2,435 units.

The Indonesia Motorcycles Industry Association (AISI) reported for January-August period, national motorcycles totaled 5,368,858 units, compared to 5,134,668 units in the same period of 2013.

Motorcycles sales in Java island amounted 3,342,616 units (62.26% of total national sales), Sumatera 1,011,860 units, Bali 219,397 units, Kalimantan 395,815 units, Sulawesi 346,883 units, and Papua 23,172 units.

AISI is optimistic national motorcycles sales to reach 7.7-7.9 million units this year as sales during first half exceeded 4 million units.

While national car sales is expected to grow by 5% to 1.28 million units this year, compared to 1.22 million units last year.
