JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Asian markets mostly opened down this morning on concern over the U.S. budget standoff.
Reuters reported politicians in Washington showed no signs of making progress over the weekend in resolving the U.S. budget standoff.
Japan’s Nikkei declined 0.4%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.64%, and Australia’s All Ordinaries down 0.23%. Korea’s KOSPI was also in red.
Nymex’s crude oil increased 0.38% to US$103.70 per barrel in Asian trading this morning. Safe-haven gold inched up 0.3 percent to about $1,314 an ounce.
The dollar slipped 0.3 percent to 97.18 yen, giving up its gains on Friday to snap a five-day losing run against the Japanese currency.
