JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned three more witnesses for questioning on Tuesday (Jan 20) in order to complete the dossier of graft suspect Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan before sending the case that implicating the Police Chief nominee to the Jakarta Corruption Court for trial.

According to KPK’s Spokesperson Priharsa Nugraha, that three witnesses summoned for questioning today are Insp. Gen. Andayono (Chief of the East Kalimantan Police), Comr. Sumardji (Deputy Chief of the Jombang regional Police), and Brig. Gen. (ret) Heru Purwanto.

KPK has also on Monday (Jan 19) summoned three witnesses for Budi Gunawan, a suspect in the case. They were Brig. Gen. Herry Prastowo (Director of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim) for General Crimes), Sr. Comr. Ibnu Isticha (a lecturer at the Institute of National Police Science (STIK), and Insp. Gen. Syahtria Sitepu (a Police Education Institute professor). But only Syahtria Sitepu showed up.

KPK has named Budi Gunawan as graft suspect since Tuesday (Jan. 13) over suspected transactions found in the bank accounts belonging to him. KPK charged Budi with Article 12 letter a or b, Article 5 Paragraph 2, and Article 11 or 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

KPK also asked the Immigration office to ban Budi altogether with his son, Muhammad Herviano Widyatama, from overseas travel. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
