JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi revealed on Monday (Oct. 12) about the assistance from more countries to help the government to extinguish forest fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan islands.
According to Retno, the Government of Japan has offered their assistance in form of chemical substance and a group of engineers to accelerate the efforts to extinguish forest fires.
Retno added that the government is also in talk with the Government of China and the Government of Thailand regarding their assistance to Indonesia.
As reported earlier, five other countries have offered their assistance to Indonesia to extinguish forest fires. They are Singapura, Malaysia, Russia, Korea, and Australia.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo earlier said that the assistance from other countries will be concentrated in South Sumatra, where the largest number of hotspots found so far. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.
