JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Sugiharto, a subordinate of Minister of Home Affairs Gamawan Fauzi who serves as the Director of the Home Ministry’s Citizen Administration Information Management, has been named as a graft suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) related to the investigation into a graft case of the national electronic identity (e-KTP) procurement project.

In a press briefing on Tuesday noon (April 22), KPK’s Spokesperson Johan Budi Sapto Prabowo said the KPK is still conducting further investigation over the possibility of involvement of other figures. He said KPK had started investigation since 2012.

Previously, the graft allegation on the e-KTP project under the Ministry of Home Affairs was revealed by Muhammad Nazaruddin, a graft convict and former Treasurer of Democratic Party.

Nazaruddin told to the press about some names who had received fees from the e-KTP project that costs Rp5.9 trillion plus a mark up Rp2.5 trillion.

According to Nazaruddin, that names included Minister of Home Affairs Gamawan Fauzi, Gamawan’sbrother, Setya Novanto (Treasurer of Golkar Party and Head Faction of Golkar at the House of Representatives/DPR) and Anas Urbaningrum (former Chairman of Democratic Party).

But, all of these names accused by Nazaruddin, including Minister Gamawan himself denied all accusations against them. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
