VANCOUVER (Yosefardi) – MicroCoal Technologies Inc has made initial project payment to PT Citicon Energy for the construction of its first coal-upgrading facility in Banjarmasin, Indonesia.
PT Citicon is responsible for all aspects of engineering, construction and project management of the facility, which is expected to upgrade 190,000 tons per annum of low-rank coal to higher calorific coal.
MicroCoal expects to remove 10% of the total moisture to boost the calorific value from 8,000 Bty/lb to 9,000 Btu/lb. The company claims that its technology can boost calorific value to 11,000 Btu/lb.
If succeeded with the first commercial project, the company might develop other potential coal-upgrading projects in Indonesia.
