JAKARTA (Indonesia Today) – Thousands workers will expectedly conduct a rally on Wednesday (May 1) and voice demands on 4 issues; outsourcing, wage, social security providers (BPJS), and fuel prices.
The workers will demand the elimination of outsourcing, low wage, and the implementation of BPJS. The workers will also reject the hike of fuel prices.
In Jakarta, DKI Provincial government, workers association and business players had conducted meeting for welcoming the anniversary of May Day. The anniversary will be centered in Bulungan Youth Center, South Jakarta, while May Day Seminar will be hosted in Ragunan center.
In West Jakarta, May Day anniversary will be centered in Gate to Jakarta city, while in East Jakarta, the anniversary will be centered in Pulogadung.
In Yogyakarta, 1,500 workers will expectedly rally for May Day anniversary. In North Sumatera, workers from 50% of total companies, member of Indonesia Business Players Association (Apindo), will opt to rally on May Day anniversary instead of working. But they are committed to add office hours for the sake of company’s production. In Medan, May Day anniversary will be centered in Lapangan Merdeka Merdeka.
Meanwhile, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will set May Day (May 1) as a national holiday in years to come. (hans@theindonesiatoday.com)
