JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) revealed on Wednesday (April 1) that March 2015 inflation was 0.17%, compared to deflation of 0.36% in February 2015.

In January 2015, BPS also recorded 0.24% deflation. Then, year to date deflation is 0.44%. While year on year inflation (March 2015 vs March 2014) is 6.38%.

Off 82 cities, 54 cities recorded inflation, highest occurred in Manokwari (0.84%) and the lowest occurred in Padang and Cilacap with 0.01% each.

Meanwhile 28 cities recorded deflation, highest occurred in Tanjung Pandan (1.97%) and the lowest occurred in Medan, Padangsidimpuan, and Tarakan with 0.01% each.

The inflation in March 2015 was contributed by processed food, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco (0.61%), housing, water, electricity, gas, fuel (0.29%), health (0.64%), education, recreation, and sport (0.10%), and transportation, communication, finance services (0.77%).

While staple food contributed deflation of 0.73% and clothing 0.08%.
