JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin has been appointed as acting Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) replacing Suryadharma Ali following Minister of Law & Human Rights’s decision to returning the Party’s leadership to previous executive management as per results of the 2011 PPP chairmanship congress (Muktamar).

Lukman, whose previously served as one of Suryadharma’s deputy chairmen, confirmed his appointment to the press on Friday (Jan. 8).

As transitional leadership, he said he will work altogether with other deputy chairmen, secretary general, and etc listed in the PPP’s central executive board (DPP) as per result of the 2011 PPP Muktamar to prepare the next Party Muktamar in the near future this year.

According Lukman, the 2016 PPP Muktamar will become a reconciliation between Romahurmuziy and Djan Faridz factions. The new chairman for the Party will be also elected in said 2016 PPP Muktamar.

Minister of Law & Human Rights Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly, following the verdict from the Supreme Court (MA), has earlier canceled his previous decision that acknowledged Romahurmuziy’s leadership and also refused to legitimize Djan Faridz’s leadership over the PPP, which returning the PPP leadership as per result of the 2011 Muktamar as the legitimate leadership.
