JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Zaini Arony, a politician from Golkar Party and Regent of Lombok Barat in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has been detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in the case related to development of tourism area in his regency.
Zaini was detained on Tuesday (Mar. 17) soon after he finished the examination session at the KPK’s office. KPK has questioned Zaini for almost 11 hours. KPK then brought the politician to the Guntur detention center.
Previously, KPK has named Zaini as suspect in the case since Dec. 12, 2014. KPK charged Zaini with article 12 letter e or article 23 of the Anti-Corruption Law No. 31/1999 as amended by Law No. 20/2001 juncto article 421 and article 55 paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
KPK alleged Zaini for blackmailed businessman from PT Djaja Business Group. KPK, moreover, alleged Zaini for receiving Rp2 billion fee related to the development of tourism area in Buwun Mas village, Sekotong, Lombok Barat. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
