JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – About 471 people were killed in various traffic accidents all over the archipelago during this year’s mass homeward Idul Fitri exodus.

Agus Rianto, head of public information center of National Police, said there were 2,095 traffic accidents within seven days before and two days after Lebaran, killing 471 people. About 747 people suffered heavy injuries, while 2,688 with light injuries.

Traffic accidents involving motorcycles dominated with 2,517 out of 3,621 vehicles involved.

During the exodus, millions of people living in big cities departed to their hometowns to celebrate the end of Ramadhan fasting month with their families.
