JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Adj First Inspector Labora Sitorus, a low ranking police officer at Raja Ampat Police Office, got 15 years jail sentence from panel of judges at the Supreme Court Thursday (September 18).
He was proven guilty for committing corruption and money laundering related to the fuel smuggling and illegal logging business in Papua.
The Supreme Court’s panel of judges presided by Artidjo Alkostar also ordered Labora to pay Rp5 billion in fine or serving 1 year additional imprisonment.
As reported earlier, the Sorong District Court previously only dropped a lighter jail sentence of 2 years to Labora for committing corruption. The district court also ordered Labora to pay Rp50 million in fine or serving six months additional jail term. The court, however, freed Labora from money laundering charges.
In the Papua High Court, panel of judges dropped heavier jail sentence from 2 years to 8 years to Labora. The High Court also confirmed the lower court’s verdict to order Labora to pay Rp50 million in fine or serving six months additional jail term. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
