JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has alleged the involvement of other Constitutional Court Judges in graft cases related in the handling of post elections disputes which dragged the non-active Constitutional Court Chief Justice Akil Mochtar as suspect.

“There is a possibility of involvement from other Constitutional Court Judges,” said KPK Chief Abraham Samad on Monday (October 7).

While commenting on the suspect Akil Mochtar, Samad personally is hoping the Corruption Court to drop a maximum punishment to Akil.

Samad earlier expressed his agreement with suggestion from former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Jimly Ashiddiqqie, who asked death sentence for Akil. He said KPK will further discuss the possibility to charge Akil with death sentence.

As reported earlier, KPK on October 3, has named Akil as suspect in graft cases related in the handling of post elections disputes of Gunung Mas regency (Central Kalimantan) and Lebak regency (Banten).

KPK has arrested Akil at his official residence at Jl Widya Chandra III No 7, South Jakarta on October 2 night along with Chairun Nisa, a member of the House Commission II from Golkar Party, and Cornelis, a businessman.

At the scene, KPK also confiscated cash money in US$ and Sin$ amounting Rp3 billion allegedly given to Akil. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
