JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission is expected to examine the Regent of Morotai Rusli Sibua as a graft suspect in a questioning session on Thursday (July 2).

According to KPK’s Spokesperson Priharsa Nugraha, KPK ealier has already questioned some witnesses in this case, including former Head of the Morotai Election Commission (KPUD)Afroriano Meleseng.

As reported earlier, KPK has named Rusli Sibua as suspect related to bribery scandal of post-election dispute implicating Akil Mochtar, former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) and graft convict.

Rusli Sibua has been charged with Article 6 paragraph 1 letter a of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) for allegedly bribing Akil related to the handling of Morotai post-election dispute in the MK back in 2011.

Rusli along with his running mate Weni Paraisu lead Morotai regency after the MK determined the pair as the winner of the 2011 Morotai election. The pair was supported by a coalition of SBY’s Democratic Party and Golkar Party. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
