JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has today (Jan. 22) re-examined  the Governor of Banten Rano Karno in his capacity as a witness in a bribery scandal related to the establishment of Bank Banten. This is the second examination session for the PDI-P politician.

Prior to the examination session, Rano told the press that he will be questioned as a witness for Ricky Tampinongkol, a director at PT Banten Global Development and one of suspects in the case.

In previous examination, Rano admitted about the request of Rp10 billion cash from lawmakers at the Legislative Council (DPRD) of Banten to Ricky.

The case began after the KPK caught two local lawmakers of the DPRD Banten altogether with Ricky in a bribe transaction at a restaurant in Serpong, Tangerang Selatan, Banten, back in December 1, 2015. The KPK also seized US$11,000 and Rp60 million cash from the transaction.

The two lawmakers are SM Hartono and FL Tri Satya. SM Hartono, a politician from the Golkar Party, is deputy speaker of the DPRD Banten. While Tri Satya, a politician from PDI-P, is the head of the DPRD Banten Commission III. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
