JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Chief of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation (Kabareskrim Polri) Insp. Gen. Budi Waseso will meet President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Friday (Jan. 23), to discuss the detainment of KPK Deputy Chief Bambang Widjojanto by the Bareskrim Polri.

Acting Chief of the National Police Comr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti and Attorney General HM Prasetyo reportedly will also attend the meeting.

As reported earlier, the Bareskrim Polri has named Bambang Widjojanto as suspect in the case related to post-election dispute of Kotawaringin Barat regency back in 2010. The Bareskrim Polri was arrested Bambang on Friday (Jan. 23) morning.

The National Police’s Spokesperson Insp. Gen. Ronny F Sompie explained that the Bareskrim Polri has investigated the case since Jan. 15, 2015 based on public report received by the Bareskrim.

KPK, meanwhile, has asked the Bareskrim to release Bambang. KPK has previously named Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan, a nominee of new Police Chief, as a graft suspect related to suspicious transactions in his bank accounts. Budi, however, has denied all allegations made against him.
