JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has intensified its investigation into a graft case related to the Rp5.6 trillion procurement project of electronic identity card (e-KTP), a project under the Home Affairs Ministry which might caused Rp1.12 trillion of state loses.

KPK’s Head for News & Information Priharsa Nugraha on Friday (Oct 31) revealed that KPK has summoned two witnesses for a questioning.

According to Priharsa, that two witnesses are Country Manager Commercial and Public Sector of PT Hewlett-Packard Indonesia Sofran Irchamni and former Sales Director of PT Oracle Indonesia Tunggul Baskoro.

Both Sofran and Tunggul were questioned as witnesses for Sugiharto, a suspect in the case. Sugiharto, the Director of the Home Ministry’s Citizen Administration Information Management, is subordinate of Gamawan Fauzi during his tenure as Home Affairs Minister. He was a Commitment Making Official (PPK) of the e-KTP project.

Gamawan’s name was mentioned in the case after former Democratic Party’s Treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin revealed to the press that Gamawan received a fee from the e-KTP project through his brother.

Moreover, Nazaruddin also mentioned two other high-profile names also implicated in the case. They are Setya Novanto (Treasurer of Golkar Party and now Speaker of the House of Representatives/DPR) and Anas Urbaningrum (former Chairman of Democratic Party).

Gamawan, Novanto, and Anas, meanwhile, have denied Nazaruddin’s accusations. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
