JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has intensified its investigation into a mega scandal related to the controversial Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) during the period of 1998-1999.
KPK Deputy Chief Bambang Widjojanto, as quoted by Tempo, revealed that the KPK would expand its probe into several BLBI obligors that allegedly have not yet pay their obligation to the government.
Bambang even stated that if necessary the KPK will summon those BLBI obligors, including businessman Sjamsul Nursalim, for questioning.
The KPK earlier has also questioned a number of former ministers under the administration of Abdurrahman Wahid (aka Gus Dur) and Megawati Soekarnoputri respectively. They are, among others, Rizal Ramli, Dorodjatun Kuntjorojakti, Laksamana Sukardi, Rini Soemarno, etc.
According to Tempo, other than Nursalim, several other BLBI obligors that received clearance letter from the government that freeing them from their obligation are Anthony Salim, Mohammad “Bob” Hasan, Sudwikatmono, Ibrahim Risjad, Soeharto’s daughter Siti Hardijanti Rukmana aka Mbak Tutut, The Nin King, Hendra Liem, Prabowo Subianto’s brother Hashim Djojohadikusumo, etc. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.
