JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has finally detained Rizal Abdullah, graft suspect and former Head of South Sumatra’s Public Works office, related to further investigation into athlete dormitory case.

KPK has named Rizal as suspect in the case since Sep. 29, 2014. Rizal’s involvement in the case was revealed in the KPK’s indictment against El Idris, former convict in the case. Idris has completed his two-years prison sentence.

In said indictment, El Idris mentioned Rizal’s name as one of those who had received fees from the athlete dormitory project. The indictment also mentions Idris’ confession about PT Duta Graha Indah’s (DGI) plan to give a 2.5% fee from the total Rp191 billion fund of the athlete dormitory’s construction project to Alex Noerdin, South Sumatra Governor and politician from Golkar Party. PT DGI was the winner of the project tender.

Alex Noerdin, however, has previously denied all allegations against him related to the athlete dormitory case, including allegation on receiving fee from El Idris or PT DGI. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
