JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained Jero Wacik, graft suspect and one of key leaders of SBY’s Democratic Party, at the Cipinang detention center since Tuesday (May. 5).

Jero has been brought to the Cipinang detention center just after finishing an examination session at the KPK’s office. He will be detained for the next two weeks.

The KPK named Jero as a graft suspect in a case of extortion practices when he served as minister of Culture & Tourism. The state loss is estimated at around Rp7 billion from this case.

The KPK has also named Jero as suspect in a similar case of extortion practices when he served as minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM).

Jero served as minister of Culture& Tourism from 2004 to 2011 and as minister of Energy & Mineral Resources from 2011 to 2014 under the ten years of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) administration. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
